Yet another Great Rip Off of innocent victims is being perpetrated in Northern Ireland with the promise of an entirely unguaranteed process advertised as a “Truth and Reconciliation” endeavour, wherein the proposed participants (proposed without their agreement) have shown again and again that they are only about perpetuating Really Big Lies and are both scared and ashamed of the Truth of their murders, tortures, disappearances and mass-casualty anti-civilian bombings.
As veteran IRA Army Council member Big Bobby Storey laid it down some years ago to any wavering IRA conscientious objectors (there weren’t very many of those), Don’t Break The IRA Code – which is Lie, lie and lie again…
Two former IRA “Chiefs of Staff” have recently died without giving up any of the IRA’s secrets, or any of the secrets of their own participation in a campaign of mass murder, torture and even disappearance of corpses – Martin McGuinness and Kevin McKenna, seen below with the King of Lies, Gerry Adams.
When challenged about the BBC Spotlight “A Secret History” revelations on Gerry Adams’ leadership role in the IRA and consequent responsibility for directing the IRA’s terrorist campaign of unnecessary mass murder, bombings and Human Rights’ atrocities, the BBC Talkback Tag Team of radio re-treads Brian Rowan and Allison Morris offered pitiful responses to Adams’ constant lies and possible prosecution.
Rowan hurriedly ignored Adams’ responsibility for mass murder and Human Rights’ atrocities and turned instead to attempting to sell his Snake Oil remedy of an amnesty alongside an organised ‘information retrieval’ body run by some dispassionate figure from outside since ‘the Stormont House Agreement will not work’.
However, while demanding an ‘Information Retrieval’ entity headed by a foreigner, Rowan could not offer victims or society in general any guarantee that the IRA would actually cooperate with this entity.
In fact, there is no guarantee whatsoever that the IRA will tell any part of any truth but the bold Brian has ploughed on regardless with his demand for a new entity even after Doug Beattie highlighted Adams’ recent comments at the funeral of one time Chief of Staff of the IRA Kevin McKenna – that the true record of McKenna’s involvement in mass murder and Human Rights’ atrocities would never be revealed.
Rowan and pals have conveniently ignored the fact that when the IRA was offered complete immunity from prosecution and total anonymity by the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims’ Remains, it immediately lied and omitted the names of persons it murdered and ‘disappeared’ from an initial list submitted to the ICLVR.

Adams and his IRA comrade Conor Murphy blatantly lied about the IRA murder and disappearance of, for instance, Gerard Evans – but an IRA volunteer in South Armagh had a partial conscience about the IRA’s lies and contacted ‘Sunday Tribune’ northern editor Suzanne Breen and gave information about Evan’s abduction and murder leading to the recovery of his remains. This is the mark of the IRA’s interest in Truth – replace Truth with lies and hope that the IRA’s atrocious record of the gravest of Human Rights’ atrocities will be buried and forgotten – like the corpse of ‘disappeared’ soldier Captain Robert Nairac and the truth of the IRA’s murder of Paul Quinn.
This is the mark of Rowan’s sales’ pitch of “a pig in a poke” to victims – another useless entity headed by a ‘dispassionate’ outsider with all of the available evidence showing that the MAFIRA Army Council has no intention of telling the truth about its war crimes – but should nevertheless receive an amnesty for its troubles…
Former ‘Andersonstown News’ hack Allison Morris opined that since Gerry Adams or anyone else telling the truth might suffer judicial consequences, it is unfair to ask currently inactive murderers and bombers to pony up the truth – basically only an amnesty will serve to possibly bribe the murderers and bombers to admit anything, but even then she continued, there might only be partial truth since everyone is now telling their own truth and with a view to exculpating themselves…
Morris helpfully added that, should victims oppose this nebulous entity and amnesty proposed by Rowan, no group should be given a veto on progress! What progress?
Wow! Poor Gerry Adams should not face the post-Belfast Agreement 2 years imprisonment surely reduced by good behaviour and parole to a matter of weeks – poor Gerry shouldn’t have to face a few weeks incarcerated – while the thousands of young men and women he led up the prison path were fit to serve thousands of years in prisons, many ‘on the blanket’ and even on hungerstrike – many others in prisons in England for nearly two decades… and for what?
The IRA Army Council made its secret General Amnesty deal with the British Government in the 1990s leading up to the signing of The Belfast Agreement, the deal that guaranteed the secret OTR letters to IRA members On The Run.
The deal included the British and Irish governments NOT going after the IRA Army Council’s mi££ions of illegally obtained assets, nor seriously investigating any “house cleaning” murders the IRA felt it necessary to commit to cement The Peace Process.
Former SDLP leading light Brian Feeney, now a political commentator, highlighted the IRA’s illegal assets in The Irish Times:
Truth retrieval is a dead duck.
So many members of the IRA have passed away, so many others have long changed their lives and don’t want to be reminded of a horrific past – so many have families and wives who know little about their actual activities in the IRA back in the day and don’t want to know – and so many members of the IRA will assuredly lie and lie and lie – there is no truth to be had from MAFIRA gangsters’ self-serving leadership.
The only hope of truth is by dint of investigation and prosecution – trusting to the likes of proven liars like Gerry Adams and Conor Murphy is a fool’s game.
Who is guaranteeing that leading IRA members will admit to a campaign of mass murder, torture and disappearances?
Who is guaranteeing that such admissions might not even now land them in the International Criminal Court at the Hague charged with War Crimes/Crimes Against Humanity?
How will all the long dead IRA members across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland who committed terrible murders and bomb atrocities – how will they speak?
Will all the Nationalist/Catholic civilians, business persons, solicitors, priests, monks, and bishops pony up the truth of their active and passive support for the IRA?
Will Clonard Monastery suddenly admit that it provided a secret HQ to the Belfast Brigade of the IRA in the early 1970s from which the IRA planned and carried out murders and bomb atrocities such as Bloody Friday?
Will Catholic Archbishop Eamon Martin open Armagh’s Diocesan Archives, and ask his fellow bishops in Belfast (Down & Connor) and Derry to open their Diocesan Archives to uncover what the Catholic church’s leaders knew about the IRA’s activities during three decades of Troubles – and what their priests were reporting back from the front lines of the Troubles about IRA activities?
Did not diocesan priests such as Fr. Forde report back on the activities in Clonard Monastery?
How much did Catholic church leaders know and cover up?
How will long-dead members of the Southern Government testify to their activities that led to the creation and arming of the [right-wing Catholic] Provisional IRA over the “communist” Official IRA back in the day?
Will this unguaranteed “Truth and Reconciliation” Snake Oil treatment not open cans of worms that no Snake Oil will be able to cure?
